Ghost Solution Suite

We are currently using GSS 1.0 with the default Sybase database on an old Dell workstation. I want to upgrade our installation of GSS 1.0 to GSS 1.1 and the move that installation to the new server and use SQL Server 2000 instead. Can it be done?

In summary:

1. Upgrade GSS 1.0 (Sybase) to GSS 1.1.
2. Migrate GSS 1.1 (Sybase) to new server machine as GSS 1.1 (SQL Server 2000).

The Ghost part of GSS (the console) can only use Sybase, not SQL Server. I believe the Client Migration part of GSS can use SQL Server.

I checked the System Requirements for GSS 1.1 and it said SQL Server 2000 was a possible db server, but I suppose it could just be for the Client Migration tool. However, that would kind of suck to have to run two different db servers like that.

Can anybody else confirm that the Ghost Server 1.1(?) still uses Sybase?

yes, Symantec Ghost Configuration Server 8.3 (GSS 1.1) uses Sybase 9.0. There is no possibility to move it to SQL Server at the moment.

Symantec Client Migration uses SQL Server or MSDE.

Well.......crud. OK. Does anybody know if there's any updated documentation for migrating from Ghost Server 8.2 to 8.3? I found the latest incarnation of the Knowledge Base search incomprehensible and useless.
