Hello,

I have got a task for migrating ITMS7.1 SP2 to 7.5.

I have gone through the procedure of migration.

But i want to know that how all the Agents will be upgraded. Manually or Automatically they will be updated???

And if we want to change the server name then what we will have to do to upgrade from NS..???

Agents will be updated automatically. After ITMS upgrade will be finished, you need to enable the agent upgrade policies.

All agents policies located at Actions -> Agents/Plug-ins -> Rollout Agents/Plug-ins

First you have to update the Symantec Management Agent.

After SMA will be updated, you can update all needed solutions.

If you want to change NS name, before upgrade you should to relocate all agents to new NS, to help read topic: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH127618

Please also rememebr that the site services upgrade policies are not located in the aforementioned location, as they are found within their relevant site service folder within the site server settings tree.

I always recommend the following to my customers:

1.  Upgrade the SMA on all site servers.

2.  Upgrade the site services on all site servers. 

3.  Once all PS's have downloaded the new agent/plugin packages and the SMP classes them as being ready on the PS's, upgrade the SMA on the clients, followed by the solution plugins on all node types.

I just want to know that how to upgrade SMA on site servers.

Basically we are having 10 site servers(7 are package server). and can you tell me the procedure for upgrading SMA via site servers.

The biggest problem is that i have to move old ITMS 7.1SP2 to a new hardware for the upgradation to ITMS7.5.

Can u pls help me with those details.

To upgrade the sma on site servers first, you simply target only site servers with the sma upgrade policy. Do this by deleting the existing target and then adding the new one, or better still, clone the policy before you do that, as you can then enable the default upgrade policy to target the rest of the estate once the site servers have been upgraded with the new agent and new services.
