We have a SEPM 11 manager that we are migrating machines onto a new SEPM 12 server. what we did was we built the SEPM on the new server to the same version as the old SEPM and setup up replication so groups and policies were copied over to new SEPM once complete we severed replication and upgraded the new server to SEPM 12.1 RU4 MP1b.

I've been pushing communication update packages from the new SEPM server to the clients to repoint them at the new SEPM and once checking in they are then auto upgrading to SEP 12.

What I am seeing in some places though is machines checking into both SEPM's at the same time. one SEPM 11 manager will shout the client still on SEP 11 and the SEPM 12 will show the client on SEP 12 but both are checking into both SEPM's recently. Has anyone seen this before or understand why this is happening.

A couple of these can be explained as they are citrix environemnts and when re imaged they re-image back to SEP 11 as the main image hasn't been updated. But can't understand why the laptops that aren't citrix are doing this.

Did you configure the msl so new SEPM is a priority 1? Does it only happen one (initial) time or is constant?

Yes the management server list was updated for new machines checking into the SEPM to only point at the new SEPM. Only seems to be a few machines but we have migrated over 1400 machines so far. Just unusual behavior I've not seen before. Some of these machines are still running old SEP 11 RU4 though.

I saw this with 11.0.5 clients. Open the sylink file on the affected client and ensure the new SEPM is there as top priority. Once you remove the old SEPM from the MSL and decomm it, I suspect it won't be an issue.

Yeah I'm with you on this one Brian but just trying to discover why before hand in case it's spotted in any of the reports I'm running on both SEPM's. know it won't be an issue when the old SEPM finally decommisioned.

can you check a client to see what version its running? in this way we would know which SEPM is reporting the correct version..

Already checked and they are running SEP 12. Also tried deleting the old entry that is online from the SEPM 11 and it checks back in on SEP 11. Some are 11 RU4 and others are 11 RU7.
