Last year, I updated all of our workstations from Windows XP to Windows 7 Pro. I am now finalizing the server replacement from 2000 to a new system running 2012 Essentials and switching from a peer to peer to a domain. My Endpoint management is running from a spare workstation and I am asking if it would be better if running on the new server? Thanks.

Yes, you should definitely get it moved over to a supported OS as well as see improvements in performance.

Also, 12.1. will not run on Windows 2000.

    Thanks Brian,

The workstation it is on is Windows 7 Pro. The old Windows 2000 (server was not running Endpoint. The new server is 2012 Essentials on a new Dell T320. I am taking the old server offline this evening

Would definitely get it on the server if you can as it has better performance and space I'm sure.

How many clients will be connected to the SEPM?

There will be a total of 10

My personal preference would be to run the SEPM off of a server. However, with 10 clients it's very possible to leave it on the Windows 7 box if you experience no issues currently and you don't expect your clients to gro much more than 10.
