Using the same IP Address & Host Name on the new hardware

The same condition has been posted previously on:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/dat...

But the information about the step-by-step is still not quite clear. I have seek for the articles and found this :

Could anyone of you shed some light for this case? Appreciate your response

Things to Consider When Moving the Symantec Critical System Protection (SCSP) Database and Management Server

Move Manager or DB to a New Server

you can do it any of the DB or manager first. Doing manager move might be considered first.

Hi Pete, thanks for the links,

for the fall back plan, it is as simple as plugged in the old SCSP & DBase server and then the agent will reconnect to the old one? or?

and is there any issue if the agent 5.2.4 suddenly connected to the 5.2.9 server?

I would move the db first, as described in the second half of this article:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

(section begins with header 'Moving the Database to Another Instance')

The primary reason I suggest moving the db first is 5.2.9 is supported only on SQL 2005+.

Next I would migrate the SCSP manager(s) to connect to the 5.2.4 db on the new SQL server. (assuming the manager(s) are not on the same box as SQL). If the Manager(s) are on the box as SQL, just make sure and grab the server.xml and cert files from the old machine.  When you perform server install on the new machine, select the option for Tomcat only and it will prompt your for the location of the xml and server cert file.

If you manager was seperate of SQL, final steps are to upgrade the manger, then console, then agents.

Regarding your concern re: 5.2.4 agent on a 5.2.9 server...it will be fine...no issues.

Best of luck!
