Where do you got the information from, that Mailsecurity for SMTP is EOL?

The Information for 5.0.1 is as follows:

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/release_details.jsp?pid=51985

Brighmail Gateway is a completely different solution, I do not think that a simple migration is possible.
But of course, I could be wrong.

nevertheless, you posted this thread i the wrong section of the forum.
Admin should move it to brightmail forum.

    Hi Dominik,

    Thanks for the response..

I got  a mail from upgradecenter@symantec.com with the subject Symantec End-of-Life for Symantec Mail Security for SMTP

Symantec Corporation will be discontinuing the availability of Symantec Mail Security for SMTP, one of the components of Symantec Multi-tier Protection and Symantec Information Foundation. Customers using Symantec Mail Security for SMTP are encouraged to upgrade to Symantec Brightmail Gateway as part of this process.

we are having the folowing products
    Symantec Multi-tier Protection
    Symantec Information Foundation

    The details link is below..

    Pls suggest..

Hmmm....EOL 2012...If we go with the Maya, everything will be EOL :D

    just kidding...

So I cannot say if the migration is possible, but I do not believe it.
Also, I am not really into licensing, but I think in the multi-tier protection the license for SBG is included. This leads to the question if the appliance can be used for SBG.
The last thing I know is, that multi tier protection is no longer sold and the recommendation is to change to Protection Suite.

I know, this does not really help you...sorry

    Thanks dude..

atleast I am having licence till 2012.. so I can survive with the same :D
as per the mail SBG is a component of multi-tier protection so licencing will not be an issue.. In the installation document almost every steps are same as SMS.. thats why I am confused.. I will update the version one by one.. let me see whether this will upgrade SMS to SBG..
