I have completed all of the suggested pre-migration tasks on the SAV server listed in the Admin Guide.

I have installed SEP Client and Manager, Live Update Admin, Quarantine Server on a new Win 2008 x64 server.

I run the Migration and Deployment Wizard and chose migrate from SAV option and select Server Group and Client Group for the Client and Server Policy settings.

Here is where I can go no further. I canno Auto-Detect or add Servers, I always get Failed to contact or import data from <servername>. I can ge no further!

There is no firewall running on the SAV server. I can ping it and even browse to it. The SAV server is 2003 x86 server with SP2.

If you have any assistance you can offer I would be grateful

    Thanks in advance,

    Josh Kealiher

Make sure Remote Registry service is enabled of SAV server and SEPM server.

How many Clients and servers do you have. This migration will only import your groups and policies.
For installation you will have to push the packages to the client using migration and deployment wiz like Client Remote install in 10.x

If you don't have  complex groups and policies.
Then no need to do this Step.
Just login to SEPM ..add Groups..create and assign policies ( like centralized exception or if you want any non-default policy) ..export install packages..start pushing them.

If SAV Server And SEPm are two different physical servers then try to keep the same Administrator password on both the server .
