    Hello,

Do I have to upgrade to RU1 first THEN to MP1 or can I upgrade directly to MP1?

    Hello,

What version of SEP 12.1 are you presently carrying on your machines?

Incase, if you are carrying the SEP 12.1.671 (RTM Release), then Yes, To migrate to SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1, you would require to Install SEP 12.1 RU1 first.

    Check this Article:

Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1101 (RU1 MP1)

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH187753

    NOTE:  About Migration paths

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1101.401 (RU1 MP1) can migrate seamlessly over the following:

    Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1000.157 (RU1)

    Hope that helps!!

YOU SHOULD UPGRADE TO RU1 THEN TO RU1 MP1

... what if I receive this error message while upgrading SEPM from version 12.1 to version 12.1 RU1?

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH175156&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1326984282248

Any suggestions on this? I know, that this has been adressed in MP1, but I don´t want to do a new SEPM install from the scratch. So, what can I do?

    Thanks and

    BR,
    Gil

before upgrade its always best practise to follow DR document for backup purpose.

    Pete,

thanks for that hint, but it won´t help me going further on with the IIS issue :-)

may be open a support ticket while upgrade is in process. There will be workaround to resolve the issue if this comes up.

Ok, but what do you think, maybe it´s an option to do a temporarily IIS re-install in order to go through that "error"?

Thought of that a few days ago ...

    This worked for me ...

    1. Stopped SEPM Service
    2. Re-Installed basic IIS
    3. Installed SEPM 12.1000 RU1
    4. Reboot
    5. Stopped SEPM Service
    6. Installed SEPM 12.1100 RU1 MP1
    7. Reboot

And no, this issue (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH161964) isn´t addressed in the latest MP1 as declared, because the error pops-up again inbetween migrating 12.1000 RU1 to 12.1100 RU1 MP1, so I´ve reinstalled IIS again and it works like a charm.

After all upgrades you are safe to remove the IIS again ...

    Hope this will help one.

    Gil
