Migration Strategy for Exchange/EV
Updated: 22 May 2010 | 4 comments
We are just looking at migrating users to Exchange 2007 in the same org as 2003. EV 6.5 is already in place (oh joy) which we also have to move (to a new location and platform) and obviosuly hook up to Exchange 2007.
I'm actually thinkin of just taking the easy way out, new EV server with no logical connectivity to the existing server and following these steps:
Export Archive to PST
Move mailbox to Exchange 2007
Import pst back in.
And as for the journal, once the migration is complete just close it off and restore onto the new server as a locked archive.
Sounds to easy tho, anything i've missed?

PM sent, but no doc as yet. Any updates?
Hi
I think you can take the following doc:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/285651.htm
or this one:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/284956.htm
As for your thing with export..
Be aware that all Shortcuts currently relying in the mailbox would not work anymore when doing export/import.
If you wish to have this facility, we may have a product for you called Archive Shuttle. (www.evtools.net)
Cheers

Oh, and there are some versions of this whitepaper Paul recommends:
http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/power/ps3q05-20050230-Veritas.pdf
http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/html/itp/Managing_Exchange_Migration_with_E-Vault.pdf
http://media.netapp.com/documents/tr-3395.pdf
but I couldn't find the newest one from Symantec neither... :(
Cheers
