When initiating an image create task from Ghost Console (vs. 11.5.0.2113), the Create Image task fails.  The error file, indicates Error Number: (20077) "Please register ghost before attempting this operation".  I have deleted the Ghost.exe file and the hidden virtual partion from the client and still receive the same error.  I then attempted to re-register ghost.exe (as suggested in another discussion thread) by copying it and ghost.env to a floppy disk, then using DOS, but discovered that I have no ghost.env file on the server which is running the Ghost Console.  I have performed a complete search of the C: drive, including hidden files and folders and have not found it.  My copy of Ghost Console, under Help/About shows that it is licensed for 70 clients (which is what I've purchased) with 53 machines known to the Console.  Is it possible there is no ghost.env file?  Thanks for any help. - Gary Decker

It is possible that something has gone wrong with your installation even though I dont see how since you have installed that many clients. In any case you can retrieve this file from cab file from the installation.

    Cheers.

Thanks for the reply.  I tried a reinstall/fix on the Ghost Console module and this did not fix the problem.  I have searched the installation files and cannot find a ghost.env file in them.  Just a note, I downloaded the installation files from the Symantec website so do not have an install disk.  I have now completely removed the Ghost Console installation from my server using the Add/Remove method.  I deleted the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Ghost folder and have deleted almost all references to the Ghost software from my registry.  I then re-installed the Ghost software and now have a ghost.env file.  However, when I open the file with Notepad, the file indicates I am only registered for 10 users.  Yet when I attempt to register the software, I receive the message that I am already registered for 70 licenses and have 42 in use.  Where is the license registration information held if not in the ghost.env file or the Windows registry?  Regarding my original question, I have not had a chance to determine if the uninstall/install of the Ghost Console has solved that problem.  Thanks.

ghost.env file is not a licensing file, it is just a registration file so that ghost exe is officially registered on your system. It doesnt decrement your license count.

Licensing is done completely separately and obviously I cannot discuss its details. If you have purchased 70 licenses then Console will be licensed to serve 70 clients.

    Hope this helps.
