Background:

Exchange 2003 with front end server
All mail from SBG being delivered to front end server
Multiple email domains accepted.

I have had several of my users complain that some inbound emailsare not being delivered.

We have multiple email domains that we accept.

Ex.  company.com  and comp.com
Company.com is the primary email address in the users account.

I can see on the Outlook message headers that the missing email was sent to the comp.com email adddress.
When I search the message audti logs by sender, only the message to company.com shows up.

Missing inbound mail

Hi Brentwood,

What version of SBG are you running?  So we are talking about mail coming from the internet into comp.com correct? And is all this mail not coming in?  Are you sure the mx records for comp.com are pointing to the Brightmail Gateway?  And is comp.com set up as a local domain on the SBG? If you just telnet to port 25 on the Inbound Mail IP and send a test message in what do you see in the Message Audit Logs? You might want to enable a higher level of logging on the MTA logs and send in some test messages and then monitor the logs to see what happens.

Please check the messages on

Please check the messages on the quarantine. And ensure that purging of data should not be enough based on the need of data to store on the quarantine files.

Gilbert, sorry for the

Gilbert,

sorry for the delay.

I am running 8.0.2-12

Yes we are talking about email coming from the internet.  some emails for the comp.com domain have been received.  then sometimes none.  I can see in the message audit logs some emails to user.comp.com have made it.

the MX records for comp.com point to company.com
for zone comp.com
MX = server.company.com

How do I set higher logging?

quarantine purge is set to 30 days.  I was informed the day after the emails should have arrived.

I dont beleive it is content filter, adn a user who was CC: on the meail with compnay.com email domain received the email.
