Just decrypted and upgraded to win 8.1, and have been using Perfect Disk (by Raxco, which is Symantec) for defragging. FYI-Raxco makes registry drivers if you use wde, and their pgp driver gave no issues for years under win 8.
After full pgp encryption after the win 8.1 upgrade, I received "no operating system identified" after logging in to PGP. Called Raxco and they said there is a compat issue with 8.1.
Question is: I am using the recovery DVD now to decrypt, but when I totally decrypt will I find that the MBR was altered by Perfect Disk, in combination with PGP? Is the error "no OS identified" resolvable after decryption? I think the MBR was damaged and that I need to reinstall/repair win 8. I really think I need to reformat the drive with a clean win install. I also might go back to win 7 since 8 is not much better?
