  • 1.  Missing PGP Desktop .msi file

    Posted Nov 30, 2011 04:27 AM

When I start my laptop (running Windows 7) and try to run PGP Desktop I get the following message: "Please wait while windows configures PGP Desktop" I then get the message "The feature you are trying to install is on a network resource that is unavailable" The installer cannot find the .msi file. How do I solve this?

I have tried to reinstall PGP desktop and I can't. I have tried to ininstall but I keep getting a message saying that I cant unistall as my disk is encrypted.

    Help!!

Please see this Knowledge Base Article.  It is correct that PGP cannot be uninstalled when the disk is encrypted.

After decrypting the disk (usign the article Tom provided in the post below ), you should copy msi installation file to your desktop and install from there, since it´s not possible to install PGP from remote location.

Please contact your system administrator and ask him to provide the msi file locally.

I had the same issue already in the past, what I did:

    Disk decryption

    pgp uninstallation

used "windows installer cleanup" to clean the "loop" installation process

regedit to remove all registry entrie from PGP > check HKML/software/PGP corporation and also in you HKCU/software/PGP corporation

Check your windows user profil about folder from PGP Corporation and remove it

For win xp : c:\documents and settings\username\application data

For vista and W7 : c:\user\username\appdata (check in all the folder displayed)

    Reboot and re-install PGP

    Cheers,
