  • 1.  Missing Scheduled Scans causing Scan Drift

    Posted Dec 09, 2014 10:13 AM

We have some machines that miss the regularly scheduled scans that are configured for once a week, overnight.  The scans will then take place during business hours.    Then, the following week, the regular scan time will try to run during the day, instead of the regular overnight scheduled time.

The Schedule for the scan is set to "scan until finished".  We are running SEP client 12.x

What is the best way to get the machine back on the regular schedule again?

There is an article that references "scan drift" - but does not state how to correct.

Do you have the option to retry the scan within "x" days set? If so, this will cause some issues.

Yes, we have that set for 3 days.    Plus the option to snooze for 5 times, for 60 minutes per time.

Do you think that can cause the scheduled scan to drift?

I would be interested to know if there is an easy way to get the clients back on the schedule.

Is the client misses the scheduled time, it will retry within that 3 day window. Same for snoozing. It could casue the scan to run at a different time than expected.

However, it should still run at the scheduled time you set as well so you may have multiple scans in a week.
