Endpoint Security Complete

Hi, I downloaded a trial of Mobile Management Security 7.0, sp3.  It installed on Windows 2003 fine (not compatible with 2008 apparently).  I installed Microsoft Powershell (2.0?).  Then I proceeded to install the Exchange 2007, sp1 console.  This is where I ran into a snag.  We have both: a Exchange 2003 and a 2007 install due to our unified voice mail system.  The console install bombs out because it, "Sees" Exchange 2003.  I know this is more of a Microsoft issue but I wanted to ask and see if anyone had a way around this.  Is there a version 7.1 coming out?

Hi JB,

Unfortunately, we have not run into that issue before.  As you alluded to, Microsoft is probably your best option for resolving the communication issue between the console and your Exchange 2007 server.

I'm curious if you'll run into the same issue if you download and install the standalone 32-bit Exchange tools found here:

You'll notice that there are three options for the download. They're basically just versions to match the service pack of Exchange you have installed (SP1-SP3). Choose to do a custom install, and only check the box next to the tools (bottom option if I remember correctly).

Let us know if this makes any difference.

To answer your other questions, you are correct that the 7.0 versions of our products only install on Server 2003 (32-bit). The 7.1 product line (due in March) will move to Server 2008 R2 64-bit only. We do not have a version of Mobile that will run on the 7.1 Platform today, and we won't likely have one until the June/July timeframe as we are devoting all of our resources in to 7.0 SP4 (native support for iOS devices) and SP5 (native support for Android devices).

Thanks for the quick responses!  Unfortunately, with Exchange MC (sp1, 32 bit), I could not get past the error Microsoft is giving.  Nothing on their website indicates a workaround.  So we are stuck between 32bit, 64bit and a detected, old Exchange server.  I'm going to keep looking at Mobile device solutions.  If nothing good pops up, I will circle around and check out version 7.1.  Thanks again,

Hi, sorry to rehash this (my last post was, "Mobile management security 7.0, sp3 install not finishing").  My Mobile Management install went well.  The only hang up was that I could not install the MS Exchange console on that machine.   MS Exchange 2007 does exist in my environment and has the ability to remotely wipe devices.  However, I also have Exchange 2003 due to a legacy system dependancy.  So my question now is, "Can I point my Symantec install at the Exchange 2007 server?"  It, "IS" running the console.  Thanks again,

When you install the Exchange Management Tools, does it give you the ability to pick an Exchange 2007 Organization? It seems like that option is available during the install somewhere.
