Is 7.2MR1 compatible with iOS6?

Support tells me that iOS6 beta has been tested internally and should not have any issues with 7.2.

Just keep in mind that the new iOS 6 functionality won't be available in 7.2 MR1 or earlier, but will be available in 7.2 SP1.

7.2 MR1 work on iOS 6, but will not contain latest iOS6 MDM feature such as Application lock, http proxy..etc

7.2 SP1 will support latest iOS 6 MDM feature, with other enhancement such as EAS traffic control with F5, Exchange 2010, improved UI (such as right click on mobile device, View Device Information), new process in Management console to support APNS cert..please refer to release note of SMM 7.2 SP1 for more information.

7.2 SP1 has GA on Oct 3. End use should be able to get this update via SIM.
