    Hi,

Maybe this is a stupid question, but in each Monitor Policy there are three tabs, Rules, Detection and Actions.
Within the Actions tab you can define a 'Send Email Task' depending on the Severity (Informational, Warning ect..)
Now, when creating the Rule, you also define the Severity and you can set a Send Email Task then as well.

So my question is, which one do we use? It doesnt seem like these are linked. So if you create the Rule with a Severity of Critical and a Send Email task, and the go look under the Actions tab, the same Send Email task doesnt appear.

Or is that the way it should be?

Also, even though my Rule is set to Warning or Critical, it still gets displayed as 'Informational'

Not sure if all this makes sense to anyone, but i do apologise if i sound confused :-p

    Hi Steve,

The "Rule" Tasks (client and server) allows you to be specific to when the rule is triggered to what you want to occur for example a remediation task (start service, image new server) whereas the policy action is to allow you to set generic tasks for all of the rules within the policy for example an email tasks that would apply to all rules.

Within the rule I would place a remediation task
Within the policy i would place an email or notification task for all rules that are critical/warning.

I hope this helps explain it.  It is to allow easier task association.
