Monitoring for citrix streamed servers
Created: 22 Jan 2013 | 3 comments
We have Citrix environment in which we stream many servers from a image updated central server. We installed SMA and monitor agent on all the streamed servers, however, if the image is updated on the central server, all other servers are getting duplicate GUID and hence the monitoring is not happening.
Is there a way to monitor citrix streamed servers? do i need to change any configuration settings to overcome this issue?
Thanks in advance.

When the Symantec Management Agent is installed and allowed to start, it generates a GUID. The updated Citrix image then heads out with a duplicate GUID. To avoid this problem, after installing the agent, stop the service, delete that GUID from the database, run /resetGuid, delete references to the machineGuid in the registry, then take your image. When the image is deployed, I assume this involves a computer restart, at which point the Symantec Management Agent automatically starts, finds that it has no GUID, and then creates one and notifies the Notification Server. This should ensure everyone has a unique GUID.

Hi mclemson,
Can you please provide the complete steps with commands to use since i've a few questions regarding this.
where to find the GUID in DB,
/resetGuid is needed?,
how to find the references in registry?
Thanks in advance
Sure, see "Correcting Shared GUIDs" in this KB:
