How do I get more detail in the Event Console so that I dont have to open each one to read the contnets of the alert?  Is there any way to customize this ?

    Thanks,

    Hi!

As far as I know, if user wants to see alert details content, then he should go to Event Console and open details of appropriate alert.

But there is another way how to improve and avoid unnecessary actions to see alert details in EC.

    Solution:

    1. Open Symantec management console -> click "Settings" -> "All Settings" -> go to "Notification Server Settings" -> click on "E-mail" tab -> specify your SMTP Server settings and save changes.

    2. Open Symantec management console -> click "Home" -> "Monitoring and alerting" -> expand "Monitor" -> "Jobs and Tasks" -> "Tasks" -> click on "Send Email" (or you can create separate Send Mail task by mouse right click menu on "Tasks" folder"

-- Specify required email address(es) in "Send Email" task and save changes.

    3. Open Symantec Management Console -> open Monitor policy which you're using for server monitoring ->

    a) We can assign this "Send Email" task for each separate alert severity otherwise in case if any for example "Critical" alert from this monitor policy will appears in Event Console, then you'll receive an email notification with all required alert details.

    Steps:

    - Open Monitor Policy -> click on "Actions" tab -> click on required alert severity -> click on blue dagger for "Task Server" field -> expand "Monitoring and alerting" folder -> "Monitor" -> "tasks" -> click on "Send Email" and "OK".

    b) We can assign "Send Mail" task only for a single Rule in Monitor Policy otherwise only if this rule will be triggered and alert will be raised then "Send Mail" task will be executed.

    Steps:

    - Open Monitor Policy -> click on "Rules" tab -> make double click on required "Rule" -> click on blue dagger for "Task Server" field -> expand "Monitoring and alerting" folder -> "Monitor" -> "tasks" -> click on "Send Email" and "OK".

    Thanks,
