Monitoring & Reporting w/ SEP 11
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 2 comments
Is everyone else as frustrated with the reporting in SEP 11 as I am? Are any of you doing your reporting right off the database, rather than through the SEPM client? Does Symantec offer any tools to improve the SEP reporting?
Ideally, I would like to create a single report that lists all the computers and their groups that fail a variety of criteria. Any advice?
EG:
Group Computer Criteria
---------------- ---------------------- --------------------------------
Servers Server1 Virus Definitions out of date
Servers Server2 Virus Definitions out of date
Servers Server2 AntiVirus Engine Off
Servers Server3 Restart Required
Desktops JohnDoe Virus Definitions out of date
Desktops JaneDoe Auto-Protect Off
Desktops JillDoe Scan Error
Desktops JimDoe Still Infected

Extremely frustrated
I've been complaining about the reporting since before MR2, and not much have changed at all. All I get is to submit ideas or suggestions on sections of the website that doesn't exist. I find the reports pretty useless, and have to use the 'monitors' to get any real useful information.
Mister Paul, you can always adjust the filter to give you some granularity. By default, all clients are enumerated. If you need all clients within a group and it's sub-groups, set your filter to the highest group you need and put an asterix after the group name. Most of the information is listed in the 'monitors' when you export it. You just won't be able to see it in the GUI.
