This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi

We are running BE 2010 R3 Service Pack 1

we are about to replace our server.

What is the best way to move the backup exec database, jobs and catalogs to the new server?

There is a lot of KB articles about it, i don'tt know which one is right for me.

Thanks

Dori

See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH67768

How to migrate (move) Backup Exec from one system to another with the same version of BE, Windows and same or different computer names.

Hi
There please check the below link if you are moving same version of backupexec to new server only ensure same version means be2010 r3 sp1 is on old server then on new server if you have same version installed then bring it at same level as be 2010 r3 sp1

TECH129826  refers to moving the media server to a different OS

TECH49757    is for moving to the same OS

but what is diffrence between TECH49757 to TECH67768?

Ken Putnam's picture

TECH49757  includes v10d, the other is strictly v11 and above.  Other than that either should work for you

TECH67768 seems much more complicated then TECH49757

any reason what i should use it instead of 49757 that seems very simple?

Thanks

Hi

Dori you can use the above technote if you are going to move same bakckupexec version to different server so yes you can use that too only thing which could happen after migration can be it can show the name of old server in devices tab or device pool with the technote http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH49757

So in that case you might have to edit the bedb to remove the old server name for which you can contact support as edtiting on your own symantec doesn't recommend

About the other TECH67768 yes it is bit of complex but is more methodical & should not have any issue end of migration.

So at last you can decide the best you are comfortable with & should be fine

Thanks
