Move Backup Exec 11d from one Server to another
Hello,
i installed a "new" Backup Server (Windows 2003) with Backup Exec 11d V6235 and i will now move the license from the old Server to the new Server.
The new Server should backup the domain controller and exchange 2003 as before. The reason is a tape drive with higher capacity.
I use now a tandberg LTO3 HH tape drive with an HP ultrium emulation. In the test-installation this works now very fine. And now i will change because the domain and exchange Server should no longer be also the backup server.
The following is licend:
SYMC BACKUP EXEC AWS 11D WIN AGENT FOR WINDOWS SYSTEMS INCLUDES AGENT FOR WINDOWS SERVERS AND CPA BNDL STD LIC EXPRESS
SYMC BACKUP EXEC 11D WIN WITH CONTINUOUS PROTECTION SERVER BNDL VER UG LIC EXPRESS BAND S BASIC
SYMC BACKUP EXEC MSFT XCH 11D WIN AGENT FOR MSFT EXCHANGE SERVER WITH AGENT FOR WINDOWS SYSTEMS BNDL
SYMC BACKUP EXEC MSFT XCH 11D WIN AGENT FOR MSFT EXCHANGE SERVER WITH AGENT FOR WINDOWS SYSTEMS BNDL
SYMC BACKUP EXEC 11D WIN WITH CONTINUOUS PROTECTION SERVER I/O
SYMC BACKUP EXEC MSFT XCH 11D WIN AGENT FOR MSFT EXCHANGE SERVER WITH AGENT FOR WINDOWS SYSTEMS I/O
How do i can move this to the new server
Thanks and regards
Peter

See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH67768
How to migrate (move) Backup Exec from one system to another with the same version of BE, Windows and same or different computer names
I would however suggest the free upgrade to build 7170, as it was a much more stable build
https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?a_id=30140
don't forget the latest Service Pack and Driver Packs
If this response answers your concern, please mark it as a "solution"
If you want to start from scratch then just install BE 11d-7170 on the new server and enter the same license keys on the new server.
If you want to migrate to new server keeping all the jobs and catalogs then follow the technote given by Ken. Again enter the same license keys.
Note: For BE 11-6235 and BE 11d-7170 the License keys are same.
Thanks,

I installed 11d v.7170 and liveupdate failed
LU1847: LiveUpdate konnte nicht feststellen, ob für dieses Produkt ein Update vorliegt, da die Update-Liste für dieses Produkt beschädigt ist.
I tried to install the remote agent for windows and manually add a remote server and it failed with
can not recognize if the remote is a 32bit or 64bit system (it is a 32bit system.

Uninstall liveupdate from the Control Panel - add/remove programs...
delete the liveupdate folders
download lusetup for Liveupdate 3.3 & install - https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp...
Re-run liveupdate
