I need to move the /db/ folder to a new location in SEP 12.1 RU2 and not sure how to do it.  I ran the server config and updated the /data/ folder to move to a new drive, I really need to move the sem5.db. Thanks.

You can't just move the embedded db as it is on the SEPM. If you want to move to another machine you can do that.

You can check this KBA for guidance

    Hi,

I will move the database (sem5.db) to another drive, not on the other machine. Is this possible? Thanks.

    Hi Pete,

Yes, its because of space. C:\ is having a 30gb total disk space. Currently, we have SEP 11 RU6 installed on C:\, and sem5.db was stored in F:\. Then we upgrade it to SEP 12.1 RU2, first we encountered error saying "unable to get the database schema version. you must ensure that the database server is working and can be connected from the Management Server". With this, we move back sem5.db on its default location (C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db) and run upgrade.bat. The upgrade was successful. However, we need to move again sem5.db to F:\ because c:\ was lack of disk space that may cause problem on liveupdate.

You cannot move only the sem5.db to another disc while keeping the SEPM installation on a different one - few other possibilities I see here:

    - move the DB from embedded model to SQL that can be stored on a remote SQL server:

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager: Moving from the embedded database to Microsoft SQL Server

    - reinstall SEPM completele to another drive:

    - move only the intepub/content folder (that includes definitions and install packages) to a different drive:

    - limit the size of the definitions and logs stored on SEPM:
