We have our SEPM environment on test hardware and I need to move it. Today the DB currently resides on a dedicated server (ServerA) and the SEP manager is on a different server(ServerB). I'm planning to move the SEP SQL database to a new server(ServerC and the SEP manager to a new server(ServerD). Each of the new servers will have a different name and IP address.
I think I saw the answer to this question on the forums but I cant seem to find it. I understand that each client will have to have a new sylink.xml applied but at this point I'm only concerned about getting my current setup moved to new infrastructure.
The disaster recovery stuff I've found so far seem to deal with SEPM and the database residing on the same server. To complicate things the old SQL server is 2005 and the new one is 2008.
At this point I've detached the SEP SQL DB from ServerA and moved to the new ServerC. When I installed SEPM on the new server(Server D) i told it to use existing database. It found my database that I moved but cleared everything. Now I'm using the restore wizard on the new SEPM server(ServerD) to restore a backup of the SQL database from ServerB.
