Move SEP temp folder i2_ldvp.tmp to other than System drive
Created: 29 Oct 2012 | 4 comments
Hello,
1/ It is possible to move/relocate SEP temp folder i2_ldvp.tmp (on w2k8 located in c:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\ i2_ldvp.tmp\ ) to non-System disk?
Or change the folder location during installation?
It somethimes grows up during Full scan to huge size and I want to prevent System drive crash, due low space.
I know that folder should be cleaned after scan, but somethimes it is not.
2/ It is possible to wrote message about uncomplete/unfinished full scan to Windows Application event log?
OS: W2k8 enterprise, SEP v. 11.0.5002.333

First, you ar eon quite an old version of SEP 11.x. Latest is RU7 MP2
This folder location cannot be changed.
I would suggest an upgrade and I believe this issue was fixed in a later release.

Hello,
This issue occurs due to Lack of required disk space to extract files from a compressed file that is being scanned. Permissisons have been changed from Microsoft default.
Check this Article:
Large files under "\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\i2_ldvp.tmp" folder.

OR
Do you have Symantec Enterprise Vault installed on the same machine??
The issue seems to be related to Enterprise Vault and SEP. The vaulted items that kept re-appearing in this folder are being recalled by SEP after it would run its scheduled scans.
The I2_LDVP.TMP folder needs to be excluded from recalling vaulted items.
Check this Article:

I would highly recommend you to migrate to the Latest version of SEP 11.0.7101 and above.
Hope that helps!!

I2_ldvp.tmp folder consuming lots of space is resolved in RU7 MP1.
Before upgradation
1)uninstall previous version of SEP
2)Delete all the symantec folder then
3)Upgrade client to RU7MP1.
IF you are using SQL then add centralize exception policy(like .ldf,.mdf ,.ndf extensions) for SQL.
