  • 1.  Moving to a new SEPM at a remote site

    Hello.

I need to move a SEPM at a remote site to a new server.

The SEPM uses a Microsoft SQL Server DBMS located on another server.  The database will not be moving, just the SEPM.

Here is what I have done so far

The current SEPM is on a server called CPF1, this SEPM replicates with a SEPM at my main site called CAL1.

The new SEPM will be on CPF2.

I've left the SEPM on CPF1 intact.  I installed a new SEPM instance on CPF2 and told it to use the existing remote site database.  I also changed my management server list for the remote site so CPF2 is now a higher priority then CPF1.  I've left it like this for a few weeks.  When I run a report on how many clients are still connecting to CPF1 I find that there are none.  All clients at the remote site are now using CPF2.

The only thing left is changing the replication scheme from CPF1<->CAL1 to CPF2<->CAL1.  The replication scheme is set to replicates logs one way from CPF to CAL, and it doesn't replicate content.

I haven't been able to find any information on how to switch the replication server at the remote site.  The only article I've found in the knowledge base is this one.
    http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/829fd603ae1f7acf8825751e0062fb84?OpenDocument

Does anybody have any thoughts on how I might permanently switch the remote site replication partner to a new SEPM.  I know if I simply delete the replication schedule and attempt to create a new one between CPF2 and CAL1 I receive an error message saying something along the lines of CPF2 is not the main SEPM at the CPF site.

    Any help would be appreciated.

What else you can do is do a DR( Disaster recovery)

Take a backup of the database from CPF1, and turn the server off.
Now the new server CPF2, rename it to CPF1, once that is done Restore the database backup that you have done.

Now what will happen that the new CPF1 will be replicating with the CAL1 and then yiu can decomssion the old CPF1.
