MR1 upgrade media?

Created: 14 Jan 2008 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments

Simple things can be confusing sometimes... I know that this has been discussed here already, but it's not clear for me. According to threads i have been reading I should be able to upgrade to MR1 with media from fileconnect. This is what I see there currently:

Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.1000_AllWin_EN_CD1.zip    11.0.1000  370,546,456  27-Dec-2007
Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.1000_AllWin_EN_CD2.zip    11.0.1000  120,465,136  27-Dec-2007

I downloaded these and unzipped the files to my server. I stopped the SEPM and closed the Services window. After that my instruction says "Download... bla bla... Unzip... bla bla.. Browse.. bla bla" and then... "Double click on setup.exe to start the installation". I could not find the setup.exe. I even used search for it, but could not find it. Do I have the correct media for MR1 or not?

On the other hand when I unzipped CD2.zip, there was a folder which was "CD3". What is this?

Hello,

The setup.exe that is referred to in the upgrade is under the CD1 folder, which you should see after unzipping Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.1000_AllWin_EN_CD1.zip. If you don't see that, I would recommend downloading the file again as you may have an incomplete package.

Maybe Windows unzip tool makes something for the sake of security and that is the reason why I cannot see the file. I'm downloading the files again and give another try with different unzip tool.

But still, it's weird to see CD3 directory under "CD2 directory". :smileytongue:

EDIT: setup.exe detected!

I see the CD3 folder in the CD2 zip file as well. I think that was just a typo.
