  • 1.  MS DOS & FreeDOS fail to connect to the F: drive

    Posted Jan 18, 2016 08:06 AM

    Hello all,

I am running DS 6.9 SP6 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard in a domain within a VMWare Workstation environment, and have found that only WinPE 4.0 is able to successfully connect to the DS.

Whenever I run a job that uses either MS DOS or FreeDOS they obtain a TCPIP stack but fail to connect to the F: drive, stating that the password is invalid.

If I manually enter the password the connection attempt still fails.

    I have just tried steps 1, 2, 3, 4 & 9 to no avail.

    Step 5 doesnt apply.

My 2012 R2 DC is still using its default GPO settings within its AD, and the LSP on my DS did not show any inherited settings so I do not think that steps 6, 7 & 8 apply.

Would "NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation" apply in this scenario? There might be something funny happening with file name truncation...

Does anyone have FreeDOS/MS-DOS working against a Windows 2008 R2 or later DS platform?
