This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi,
After some VM backup failures II found 2 VSS providers in our VCENTER server.
The Backup Exec VSS provider service curently is stopped and set to manual but as far as I know we must don't have 2 providers side by side.
I don't know if setting the Backup Exec VSS provider service totally disabled is enough or do I have to completely remove it? and If I have to remove it what is the proper procedure?
thank you all in advance for your help

Not true you can have multiple VSS providers on one system
The BE provider service creates a duplicate of itself during a backup job and that duplicate service then starts. At the end of the job the extra service stops and is removed.
If you want to see the effect when a job is NOT running then run
pre-freeze-script.bat (should be in windows folder)
Then open your services applet (or refresh it) and take a look at the list of services (an extra be vss one with a slightly different name will appear)
then run post-freeze-script.bat
You kind of need to tell us what your problem is as I think you are currently concentrating on the wrong things.
Thank you very much for your descriptive answer.
