It won't affect SEP until and unless you play wrong with SQL patching.

Hi, I just want to know if we should expect any problems when applying service packs to MS SQL. We're using that for our SEP database and we'll be applying SP3 for MS SQL 2005. Thanks.
We'll backup our database just in case.

Hi mon, based from SEP requirements base is just MS SQL 2005 (base), i think SP3 will not affect it. You want also to consider stopping SEP services when you update the SP (just an idea =))
