MS08-067 Server 2003 not installing
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 5 comments
The patch which is downloaded for server 2003, KB958644 does not run. When I try to run it manually I get the error that it is not a win32 application. The file size is only 6k compared to the 687k file which I downloaded from Microsoft updates.
Is Altiris bringing down the wrong file?

Silly question, but are you trying to run it on a x64 box?

Fair question, but all our servers are 32bit.
Using the link posted to the top for troubeshooting inventory rules, can you try that on one of the boxes (I'm guessing this happening on more than one). I have asked Symantec to take a look as well.

Everything checks out OK. The package has been downloaded. The agent has run it. It's sitting under software updates with a red cross and a failed to install status. I believe the issue to be with the exe file downloaded from Microsoft. WindowsServer2003-KB958644-x86-ENU.exe Compliance and Vulnerability by Computer details confirms that the update had run and failed.
Ok, thanks for doing that. The request has been forwarded to Symantec. This thread will be updated when new information is available.
