Anyone else having issues with the recently released MS12-043 MicrosoftFixit50908?  I'm pushing this patch via Altiris NS 6.1 and it's failling on our workstations.

This might be issue with commandlines not generated properly for MSI updates in PMS 6.2

Please follow below steps for the same.

To do this make the following changes:

1. Edit the Run with Rights to ensure the user is logged on for Patch Management Solution 6.2:

◦Go to the Console > Tasks tab > Software Management > Patch Management > Software Update Task > Microsoft

◦Open the Software Update Task that has been created for this bulletin

◦Click the Advance tab in the right pane and locate Command Line

■Click on the Command Line Link

■Go to the Command-line options:

■ Command-line Option Dialog box appears, “Altiris Recommended“  option is by default selected.

■Click "Apply", "Ok"

■ then it will shows “msiexec /i filename.msi REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn“ in Command Line.

After doing this modification update is installing properly on respective setups. Please find attached image for PMS6.2 before and after modification(CommandLine PMS 6.2.JPG)

We have done this for other MSI updates as well(http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH180924)

We have the same problem. Command line is there. According Microsoft the MicrosoftFixit50908 is not part of MS12-043. I have checked Pat man 7.1 and in MS12-043 there is not MicrosoftFixit50908. Can you please check it?

As per the FAQ section of MS12-043 bulletin, Microsoft has released Fix it solution for Microsoft XML Core Services 5.0.  This is the reason; it is added in MS12-043 bulletin (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2722479).

Yes, Recommended commandline is not generated for .MSI updates in PMS6.x, for this please follow above steps to create proper command line for same.
