Can someone clear the air with regards to Managed Software Delivery policies. We have CMS 7 MR4 and I have an option to enable separate 'compliance' and 'remediation' schedules. Under 'compliance' it says, 'Choose when the agent should check policy compliance. If the software is not installed, it is downloaded immediately pending remediation.'

Should this not allow me the option to pre-stage or pre-cache my installation files ahead of time or is there a bug in MSD 7 that is not allowing this to work as designed?

Yes, this allows you to pre-cache.  For example, if you create a Managed Software Delivery policy with a Compliance check daily at 2:00 p.m. and Remediation daily at 11 p.m., and you assign the policy at 8:00 a.m., and the client gets the new policy data at 9:34 a.m., it will wait around until 2:00 p.m. comes along.  At 2:00 p.m., it will perform a compliance check using the Detection Rule you created for the Software Resource(s) associated with the Managed Software Delivery policy.  At that time, if the software is not found, it will download the software resource.  Then it will wait around until 11 p.m. to remediate, at which point it will immediately run the remediation command line against the cached software resource.

I was reading through some postings on altirigos.com (got brought there from a google search) and some of the responders said with CMS 7 you could not pre-cache or pre-stage. They said that feature was available beginning with CMS 7.1. Go to google and type in "altiris managed software delivery policy pre-stage" and you should see where this is discussed. Here is one that made me started questions this when I read:
