MSDE password for other apps

Created: 31 Jan 2005 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments

BE has been the only app using MSDE, but now I need to install SiteKeeper. During the configuration it calls for the login id/pw for MSDE. I've used sa/sa and sa/(blank) but neither works. I've used the BEUtil pgm to set the pw to sa but it still won't work. Suggestions?

Hi,

It seems that the Site keeper is trying to install its own MSDE instance.

We suggest you to let the Site keeper install its own MSDE instance so that it will not interfere or affect the backup exec software.

Usually it is recommended that backup exec use its own MSDE instance.which is not shared by any other software.

Provide a user name and password for the new software that is not related to backup exec.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Backup Exec installs it's own MSDE instance. Install another instance for SITEKEEPER and use a SEPERATE USERNAME and PASSWORD for it.
