  • 1.  MSPatch MS12-059 installing again and again on the Clients

    MSPatch MS12-059 try to install again and again on the Clients, in the the software update summary i can't find it, but if i look in the agent look it was installed. that's not the only one, we have also other patches with this problem. anyone know what's wrong?

    Try and find a log for the patch install, probably in your Windows direcctory somewhere.

    Please provide the PmImport version and also the list of updates which are causing problem.

    Hi Seify,

    Probably affected machine requires reboot in order to apply update fully. Could you please try to reboot machine if it is needed?
    Please check that mentioned update is included to the list of installed Windows Updates (from Control Panel > Programs and Features).
    In case if issue is not resolved after rebooting please provide us with the following files from this machine (if you are using 7.1 SP1a or later):
    - Go to directory "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\SoftwareManagement\Software Delivery\{6D417916-467C-46A7-A870-6D86D9345B61}\cache\" and attach 2 files: STPatchAssessment.log & STPatchAssessment.xml
    - Go to directory "C:\Program Files\Altiris\/Altiris Agent\Agents\PatchMgmtAgent\" and attach file InstallLog.csv

    Are these happening on the Win 7 machines. I had one of those Win 7 machines acting the same way. Had to uninstall and reinstall agent to fix this.

    Hi Seify,

    Thank you for provided information.
    As I see from these logs, your issue occurs because version of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE14\VVIEWER.DLL is still lower than the version required to show this patch as installed.

    Your current version is 14.0.6117.5003(this version is associated with previous KB2597981), while expected version after installation of vviewer2010-kb2598287-fullfile-x86-glb.exe should be 14.0.6119.5000 (according to Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2598287)
    It looks like vviewer2010-kb2598287-fullfile-x86-glb.exe has not been applied fully. This may occur if the required files were being used during installation - in this case update will require a restart.
    Could you please try execute the following command on affected machine: "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\PatchMgmtAgent\AexPatchUtil.exe /reboot"
    This command will restart machine only if update is requiring a restart.

    I did not manage to make this update applicable to my environment with Patch Data 7.1.363 - Could you please provide additional information about machine where issue is reproducible - OS, bitness, version of Internet Explorer, installed Office applications?

    Hi Roman,

    one of your collegue is working on that. i have opened a case.

     

    I rebooted the client after the last installation, but the problem still exist.

    I have this issue on nearly all our clients. Windows 7 Enterp., IE 8, Office 2010.

    the problem still exist, so it's every time on the clients. i have no problem to reproduce it.
