MSSQL Backup finishes with status code 1 even though single stream retry was successfull
I was just wondering if anybody could help me out with a MSSQL Backup problem. We have a MSSQL DB set up with the RETRYTYPE AUTO option which in itself works fine. When a single stream in a multi stream backup fails only this one DB is being retried at the end. Unfortunately the parent job then exits with a return code 1 and not with a return code 0. This unfortunately means that our operating is triggered and ultimately the poor DB admin is being yanked out of bed to see if there is indeed a problem. (Which there isn't but everything excet status code 0 is an emergency problem for our databases)
My question is now, is it normal to get a status code 1 ('It's not a bug, it's a feature') or did we misconfigure something somewhere? Unfortunately my own knowledge about MSSQL is severely limited and the admin DB is directly employed by our customer, so it's a bit complicated to get a simple dialogue started.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot and best regards
