This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

Iam new to Back up exec. Want to know whether we need separate agents for the client machines and for the application installed in the client.

Regards,

Anish

Hello Anish,

You will require to install Remote Agent for Windows (RAWS) on each client machine that needs to be backed up (Windows) and Remote Agent for Linus and Unix Servers (RALUS) for Unix/Linux machines.

For each seperate machine you will require those number of Remote agent licenses. Licenses needs to be installed on the Backup Exec server itself.

Also for application you will require seperate license for each application.

Thanks,

-Sush...

Hope this piece of Information Helps you... and if it does then mark this response as Solution....!!!

Hello Anish,

Yes that is right. Backup Exec base (core) license, Deduplication option license, and Agent for Application and Database licenses for the applications on the client machine.

Thanks,

Hi Sush,

What is the database license for application on client machine?

Already,  are we not having an agent for application running on the client machines? is this database license also required for the applications running on client machines ?

Regards,

Anish

...the Agent for Databases and Applications is installed on the media server, and accessed on the remote server via the Remote Agent for Windows Servers that you would push-install out.

Thanks!
