  • 1.  Multiple Group Keys granted access to same folders

    Hello,

I'm wondering if this configuration is welcoming problems, or not.  As noted in the title, I have multiple group keys (2) which have been granted access to the same folders.  I did not see any information regarding this configuration in the Admin guide or online.  It would seem to me that both group keys would be trying to encrypt the data which could cause curruption,  but everything appears to be fine.  Members of both groups are able to access the content of the folders without issue.

If anyone can verify this as a supported or unsupported practice please advise.

    Thank you

    Hello,

This will not be an issue. It would be the same as if you had added multiple normal keys to the fileshare. When you add the group key, There would be a change in the metadata for the fileshare, but it would not cause the entire fileshare to re-encrypt. As long as the fileshare is set up properly, and has a normal key as the admin. From the information you gave, this sounds like a supported configuration.

As with any encrypted data (and data in general), backups are always important.

    Cheers,

    Phil
