  • 1.  Multiple sites, without WAN.

    Hi All

My organisation are looking at buying Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, we have 4 offices but with no connectivity between them, is it possible to just install the management console at one site and have that update the clients at every site (through TCP/IP or something similar) or would we need to have a management console on each site because we are not connected?

    Any help will be great.

If you are no Wan connectivity beetween multiple silte, you can install each site SEPM.

because you are not Centerlize,so you can't manage other location SEP Client.

No, if you do not have any connectivity between 4 sites then you have two options:

    1. Install SEPm on each sites.

    2. Install Unmanaged Clients on other siotes.

You can also go for Symantec.Cloud Endpoint which can be managed from Single Console which is residing in Symantec Datacenter.

    Hello DreamOn,

To manage all the client centrally there should be connectivity between the clients and the Manager.

As you have mentioned I understand that there is no connectivity between each sites, hence you need to install Separate Manager at each location.

Also if there are less number of machines at a particular location then you can install an Unmanaged client which will take the update from the Internet.

    --Cheers--

    Hi All

Thanks for all your advice, each site has around 15-20 computers. on the requirements list on the website where we are going to purchase it from has the following...

    Symantec Protection Center (management server):
    • Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter Server, Small Business Server with SP3 or later; Windows XP Home, Professional (32-bit and 64-bit); Windows Server 2003/2008 (32-bit and 64-bit); Windows Small Business Server 2008 (64-bit); Windows Essential Business Server 2008 (64-bit)
    • 1-GHz or higher Pentium III or equivalent 32-bit processor (Pentium 4 recommended); 2-GHz or higher Pentium 4 or equivalent x86-64 processor; Itanium processors not supported
    • 1 GB or more RAM; 2 GB recommended
    • 4 GB available hard-disk space

Is the above different from SEPM? (sorry i am new to all this)

    Many Thanks

Protection Center is a centralized security management application. It enables organizations to identify emerging threats, prioritize tasks, and accelerate time to protection based on relevant actionable intelligence. Protection Center uses a combination of process automation and security intelligence to enable users to remediate incidents and proactively protect key systems and information assets.
