  • 1.  My SEPM cannot get update after disaster recovery

    I have recovered from disaster. Every thing done successfully, client and server communicate successfully, but only SEPM cannot get update from LiveUpdate Server. I use external LiveUpdate Server. My Antivirus and Antispyware definition still 21/08, the LiveUpdate return this "There were no new content updates. Return code = 1" when done.

    Post the log.liveupdate  from c:/documents and settings/All users/Application data/Symantec folder...

    Looks  like you are  using  an INTERNAL liveupdate server....Please do a manual downlaod on the  luadmin, and once  it  is successful, then start a manual distribution. Once the  distribution is successful, then try  to downlaod  liveupdate  content  from SEPM server....

    Check your proxy settings
    start
    run
    type luall.exe
    check if you are getting the below message; if so follow the document



    LU1803: LiveUpdate had an internal error while getting your updates. Your Symantec programs were not updated.

    No changed, it still not showing the current definition of antivirus and antispyware

    Were the download and distributin successfull??? What is the  version of your  luadmin? Also, is it on a different  computer, as  SEPM, or on the  same  computer, as SEPM???

    I think the problem is not in LUA (SEP client update fine by LUA), it is in SEPM because when i use external LiveUpdate server, the result still the same

    try this


        1. From the Start menu select Run
        2. Enter the following command including the quotes: 

          "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin\LuCatalog.exe" -cleanup


          This command will unregister all Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager content from LiveUpdate. We will then proceed to re-register the content again with LiveUpdate.
           
        3. From the Start menu select Run
        4. Enter the following command including the quotes: 

          "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin\LuCatalog.exe" -update

    Oh Ok...so even while using  internet to update sepm, it still gives the same thing??? Well, then, the step given by rafeeq should work....if it does not, repair sepm. Then it should work........

    Download Manually Antivirus Defn from Symantec Download center and run then try to live update.

    Re-install liveupdate and re-register Lucatalog.exe

    Also if you have proxy on the server then configure it on SEPM -Admin-Server-Local Site- Server -Properties- Proxy Server

    thaolv, are you saying that if you  manually  downlaod liveupdate  from sepm server , it works???/
