Endpoint Protection

When LiveUpdate tries to update to the latest Virus Definition file, it appears to run normally and downloads 116.8 MB of the total 118.7 MB file before putting up a dialog box telling me there was a download error. No error number and only an OK button. The other 3 components updated just fine.

I came acoss another post with the same issue and the symatec person that replied asked for the live update log which I have attached.

Can you also provide details about the name and version of the program you are using? NAV is a consumer product.

I sent this inquiry under dmncpa but could not log back in with that user so I created a new one.

As far as the product - it is Norton Antivirus 10.1.2 (001) - for Mac.

This is my daughters laptop for college and I am not a Mac user so I can't recall how to locate the log I was atempting to attach in my original post - I feel like such a techno spaz - anyway if you can tell me how to locate that log file she is back from college and I can copy paste it in another post.

OK, this sounds like a consumer product, and if your daughter's laptop is relatively new, the version of NAV you have is likely too old to support the operating system. What is the Mac OS version?

The log file you're looking for is very likely here: /Library/Application Support/Symantec/LiveUpdate/liveupdt.log

attached is the live update log.  thanks for telling me where it was located.

as far as the product and version number - the version is from my daughter's college - so I don't think it would be a consumer version.   Can you tell me how to locate the exact version to answer your question.

Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 10.1.2 was released on January 18, 2007- more than 4 years ago.  I believe that the End Of Life (Start Date) passed on 7/6/2010---- it would be an excellent idea to look into upgrading to the latest release and making sure that any subscription/license is up to date:

It does look like it's downloading but it's hitting a snag running the definition installer (that 'subscribe' message). Would definitely recommend contacting someone at the school to obtain a newer build that is intended for use with OS X 10.5.8 (which is what is showing as installed in your log):
