We are running NB 6.5.3 on UNIX and I am looking for some scripts that will monitor the health of our netbackup environment. I would like to have the scripts send text messages whenever there are down tape drives, failed jobs, netbackup service failures, etc... Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

alerts with NetBackup

You can a range of alerts and alert delivery mechanisms using NetBackup Operations Manager.  It's included with NBU and works across platforms and domains.  Yes, NOM does require a separate server, but you can run it in a virtual server (recommend Windows 2003).  We'll have more improvements to NOM with NBU 6.5.4 which will GA in mid June.

I also vote for NOM

I followed the instructions for a set up on a windows server and it worked first time.

I then worked on the alerts to get that setup to email us on issues.

See my artical:
Lessons learned on NetBackup Operations Manger Alerts.

So no we get emails on drive down failed jobs...........

I makes reports for the auditors so much easier too!.

I don't have to know how to spell....I work on Unix.
