This issue has been solved. See solution.
Is it possible to add a second master to the client configuration?
I'm testing with a second master server and trying to restore data to the original client but I need to make this client to communicate to the test master server without interrupting the communication with the productive/original master server.

A client can have many SERVER entries, but only one Master.

My laptop has for example SERVER entries for our Lab RHEL master/media server, as well as for our demo Appliance.

Both master/media servers have backups for my laptop (server initiated backups from both of them work fine), but Lab master server is listed as my laptop's master.

This means when I open BAR GUI on my laptop, only the Lab master server will be contacted from my laptop for backup images.

If I want to restore images backed up by the Appliance from my laptop, I have to change it to Master for my laptop.

Server-initiated restores always work regardless of which server is listed as Master.

Hope my example helps!

Thanks Marianne...

As I understood,  I can add the test master server as server and be able to restore images from the test master server and no cause problems for the regular backups initiated by the current master server, right ?

I will test with Windows and Unix clients... for unix clients the change is made in the bp.conf and for Windows should I modify  the registry? or I can add the test master server from the client BAR GUI?

If you are planning to do additional jobs from the client to the second master be careul. It is possbile that the backup to the second master will reset the archive bit or change the last backup time and potentially impact application backups, which will in turn affect the first master.

File system restore will be fine.Especially if initiated from the 2nd master. Just add 2nd master as another Server.

Registry or Client BAR GUI can be used to add additional Server(s) - whatever you are comfortable with.
