NBU and DD info

Created: 30 Nov 2012 | 4 comments

Folks, consider this setup, NBU is configured with datadomain. Now whenever a  backup completes the size in KB shown in NB GUI is after dedupe or before dedupe??, why because have noticed that some server's backup size shows only as 32kb when server has more than this.

Is it because of deduplication happening at DD level. Or am i missing out something here??

Also request someone to shed some light on optmized dedupe and normal dedupe( guessing, not sure if there is any:) ).

Thank you.

Size in NBU is shown before dedupe.

Sounds like you are backing up an empty mount point.

What is in Backup Selection?
Policy type?

Actual filesystem info on client?

Normal duplication is one to one copy. Optimized duplication only moves unique blocks of data.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

Please show us policy config:

bppllist <policy-name> -U

Please also check if exclude_list exists in /usr/openv/netbackup folder on the client.
