Hi All,

I am managing a Sun Server with Solaris 5.8 on which Veritas Netbackup 4.5 Datacentre is installed. We have configured NDMP backups on the same and it was working fine for sometime too. Recently we rebooted the system. After that all the other backups are running fine except the NDMP backups. When i fire a NDMP backup it fails in a flash with 219 error code. All the drives are up and running. But the backup still fails.

Please help me on the same.

Regards,

Athreya

Hi,

Verify that the robot number and host in the storage unit configuration matches what
is specified in the Media Manager device configuration and also ensure the max concurrant jobs is not set to 0

Hi ,

Thanks for the reply. The settings are fine. But still the error remains and not leading anywhere.

The NDMP authentication for the filers are fine. I am having no clue whats happening.

All the other backups are fine. But NDMP backups are failing.

Drives Down and bpsched logs

Check if the NDMP drives assign to this filer are up and healthy in all the ways, if they are go to the master server under the bpsched logs and grep for "available drive" this will give you the list of STU and if you see the one where the NDMP drives are stored with 0 0 0 means that bpsqued thinks that all the drives are down, you will need to:

bpschedreq -read_stunits

bpschedreq -read_stu_config

if after this you still see the logs with 0 drives assign to the STU than you have a problem with the drives and media server who controls the medias, this of course if u are under a remote-ndmp config, if you are in a 3way-ndmp or single-ndmp the troubleshooting goes between the filer and the drives.

hope this helps.
regards.
