Could be related - who knows...  you haven't supplied any topology or hardware model/firmware details.

I think Nagalla response was valid - as his post does in itself contain a link to:

TECH56492   How to troubleshoot NDMP Backups failures when status code 99 (NDMP backup failure) is reported. Includes logging instructions.

So, your best bet is to probably start with the above link.

This reply is not acceptable.I haven't said that nagella is wrong. So if you want to help , then only post here ... I open this forum since i am facing this issue. So plz post related this subject or else dont.

Thanks,

Sagar

Sagar,

lets do this...

Zone the same tape drives to the one of the media servers and try to make the backups using the media manager stoarge unit to the same Tape drives and see how it goes..

if that move successfull, then we need to suspect something between the filer and the tape Drives.

I have tried on media manager storage unit and through LAN also but result is same.

so looks like its related to tape Drives..

when did you last clean the tape drives?

what is the hardware info of the tape library?

Did you upgrade the firmware of the tape drives recently?

does all the tape drives having this issue or specific Drives?

when did you last clean the tape drives?
Before taking the backup , we have cleaned the drives

what is the hardware info of the tape library?

SL500 Library Firmware Rev 1395 (6.64.00)

Did you upgrade the firmware of the tape drives recently?
We have tried on 2 libraries 1) SL500 (no firmware upgrade recently) 2) IBM TS3500 (firmware upgraded recently)

does all the tape drives having this issue or specific Drives?
Yes , we have tried in almost all drives.
