NDMP backup from a filer
Updated: 05 Jun 2010 | 3 comments
I am currently taking NDMP backup from a Netapp filer to a VTL. The speed of the backup is significantly low. I want to check if disabling file history interface between the NBU 6.5.4 and the Netapp filer will help enhance the performance. How do I disable file history interface on NBU 6.5.4 ?

Presumably the same as previous
i.e. a directive of
SET HIST=N

Are the VTL drives directly
Are the VTL drives directly attached to the NetApp filer via fiber or are you using NDMP-over-IP to go through the media server for these backups? Also, in the backup selections of your backup policy have you specified a path that is either the root of a volume or the root of a qtree? (these give the best performance when performing NDMP backups)
If you have a NetApp NOW account take a look at the following links:

BackupExec 2010 and NetApp
With the release of BE 2010 beta, I thought I'd revisit an old issue.
Can ANY version of BE do a satisfactory backup of NetApp CIFS partitions to a non-NDMP drive? My backup drive is firmly attached to my Win2003 media server and BE complains bitterly about the lack of an agent on the NetApp filers (I have a FAS250 and a FAS2020).
