This issue has been solved. See solution.

random clients are now receiving this message when they login to their pc's. we've recently updated clients to version 11.0.6100.645. The pc's that i'm noticing have this issue, have a folder called Symantec and one called Symantec Antivirus under program files. Instead of everything being under the symantec folder. My path is C:\symantec\symantec endpoint protection.

I tried to register the file on their pc's but received the error that it couldn't find DLregistry or something of the sort. I really don't want to uninstall the clients and reinstall. Anyone run into this before?

I didn't see anything in startup (msconfig) that isn't normally starting up.

Thanks much

Removing ccapp from startup

I do have a question about this however. I do not receive this error when I boot up and my ccapp is set in startup without issue. What is the reasoning for removing it from startup as I thought it was part of Endpoint to startup on bootup? Or am I missing something? My machine has this in startup and I have no issues. Now, my Endpoint was cleanly installed as opposed to some of them were upgraded from older versions.

Will removing ccapp from startup , stop endpoint from starting on login? Or what is the purpose of ccapp if removing this from startup is taken out?

Thanks much

hi

ccapp.exe is the email client component for SAV/SEP
as this is included in the startup , i think its referring to your previous install of sav, this happens if the install is corrupted.

when you install sep on top of sav, it get installed in Symantec antivirus folder

if its a fresh install;it wil be installed under symantec endpoint protection folder

remove ccapp.exe; uninstall sep and reinstall it again ;this should fix the issue.

uninstalling SEP

Thanks for the follow up.

So, I can't just remove ccapp.exe from startup? I was trying to avoid having to uninstall and reinstall SEP on all these machines. Is it not good practice to upgrade from older versions? I mean , we have 2000+ machines and i'd really be putting myself through the ringer if I had to reinstall SEP on 30% of them.

Thanks

In my opinion just remove it

In my opinion just remove it from startup is enough. This is mail scanning component and this feature is of no use if you are having a good mail scanning software attached to your mail server.

ccapp.exe

I have removed this and it seemed to resolve the issues. Thank you everyone for your input and knowledge toward this matter.

Thank you
