    Nick,

I managed to downoad a working version oif this fine and have used it with no poblems. - its about 1 mb big, so if you have problems, send me your email address and I will send.

Just google "SEP Clean Wipe" or "SEP NONAV"  (nonav is old tool), one of the search results will get you the tool.

Thanks for the links, but to be honest, I'd rather use the 'official' latest version (which I now have).
As Prachand said earlier, there is a new version out that handles the latest version of SEP, with the latest operating systems.

    Hello,

The Cleanwipe utility is a very easy but potentially very dangerous tool to use which is why Symantec is requiring customers to open a call to receive the utility. The *best* way to remove the product has always been, and always will be, to use the Add/Remove programs feature in the control panel. If Cleanwipe would be available for anyone to download we’d have people running cleanwipe to fix things that don’t require uninstalls in the first place, because it’s relatively easy to use.
A Symantec technician should be the one to deem it necessary to run.

If people want to get rid of SEP, they will use this tool..
Pls don't put this tool on any download sites.. It will put administrators life in misery.... everyone will start using this tool and removing SEP...

As a backup to what shp has just said, of the two mechines we needed to use it on, one worked and the other didn't (and has potentially hosed some of the networking stuff in the process of not working)....

It isn't a tool to be used lightly.

Getting the cleanwipe is not a big process...
Just use mysupport and ask for it.. (https://mysupport.symantec.com/)

Either way, was just giving an option - they are the 'offical' clean wipe tool, just different versions.

I come from the school of thought that cleanwipe or any other ESUG tool should be available for download over the internet.

If someone wants to misuse it, though I don't understand what is known as misuse but let's assume a user would remove SEP with it. Why the cleanwipe? Why not the regular MSI install? Cleanwipe runs in user's account and if the user has privelege to delete whatever files or registries there is no security that is left.

Probably a way of keeping the script kiddies at bay but that is a lot absurd and versions are anyway available over the internet with minor change in code with the newer ones which doesnt matter when destruction is the motive. Seriously.

Tools like Cleanwipe have been deemed by Symantec to be "not available publically"...that is, it's not to be posted where people can obtain it without contacting Support.

We do this both because of what Cleanwipe does as well as ensuring that the version being distributed is the current version.  Older versions of Cleanwipe have, for example, not fully removed newer versions of the product and caused headaches that could have been spared in the first place had the correct version been used.

Additionally, it wouldn't be difficult at all for a malware writer to package his or her garbage up, name it "cleanwipe.exe" and set it up for people to download.  While I've not heard of this happening, it really wouldn't surprise me at all.

If you need Cleanwipe, please contact Support, either via a web case (from your MySupport page) or by calling in.

     I agree with chris...

I have seen many people bundle Trojan horse with genuine software's and put them on free download sites... This can happen with Cleanwipe also...

    Hi Sandeep...

If someones intention is to get cleanwipe tool(If he cant go for Symantec support).. he will get it from any website...

I have wrapped Trojan.Adclicker virus with Cleanwipe...
    can download form here..

*edit* I think you were probably joking, but we obviously can't allow you to put a virus infected file on the site, regardless of intent. Thanks for understanding -Grant-

I have sent you a PM with password...

If you download this and scan the file AV may not show the infection...
Once you run the cleanwipe.. the virus file will also run in the background and infects the PC..

This is only a simple method of wrapping one exe with other... But there are many more method using which it can be exploited....  I will delete those  uploads after some time....

That's plain stupidity. Do you download CD1 and CD2 from anywhere other than fileconnect? inspite of the fact that you are a customer to them and also it's available at all the torrents. Of course not. Then why would you download the add on's from somewhere else? And those who do, they are still doing it. To tell you the truth, it doesnt make an ounce of a difference to me as we are BCS and just need to send an email to our TAM for the latest version but the point is the overall strategy.

You mean packers? Try something like Compack, FSG(Fast Small Good), PEX, ASPack and it's simpler than you can think to make it undetectable. Lot of people have expertise in that module but we are going off topic here.

Anyway, This is a never ending discussion, it happens every fortnight. Let's chuck it.
