This issue has been solved. See solution.

I want to clear up some disk space and I am seeing that the following folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub is nearly 27GB, how can I reduce this without compromising SEPM or data?

The server is a 2008 Windows server 64 BIT

Hello,

To configure the number of content revisions retained in SEPM follow the below steps:

  1. In the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console, click Admin > Servers > Local Site.
  2. Right-click Local Site and select Edit Properties.
  3. Click LiveUpdate.
  4. Under "Disk Space Management for Downloads", select the number of content revisions to be retained.

Check these Articles:

How to change the number of downloaded content revisions that are retained by the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager versions 11.0. or 12.1

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH104845

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1 database using a high amount of Hard drive space

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/symantec-endpoint-protection-manager-121-database-using-high-amount-hard-drive-space

Also try the below steps:

To adjust the number of content updates stored by Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

  1. Open the \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Protection Center\tomcat\etc\conf.properties file.
  2. Add the following setting to the file, (the example uses a value of 5, adjust the value as necessary, the default value is 10 if no entry is present)

    scm.lucontentcleanup.threshold=5

  3. Close the conf.properties file and click Yes to save your changes.
  4. Click Start > Run.
  5. Type services.msc and click OK.
  6. Right-click on Symantec Protection Center, and click Restart.
  7. Close Services.

After reboot folder size started decreasing.
Adjusting this setting (content revisions) from SEP console didn't have any effect.

It was 15, I dropped it down to 5. The articles the guys are giving me are not what I am seeing, it deviates from when I do it.

The Conquistador's picture

Some of the content is not consistent with what I am seeing, I can not find "Edit database properties"

.Brian's picture

Go to Admin page and select the Servers tab. Select your database and "Edit Database Properties" will be under Tasks.

Your selecting the wrong one.

You need to select your Database and right click that one and select Edit Database Properties.

The Log Settings tab is the second one.

Yea, just looked at the article. It's for SEPM 11.x, not 12.1. It's irrelevant for what you're trying to do. These settings are in a different location for 12.1.

Can suggest another document for it,

C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub is the folder where virus defs are kept by the manager

if you want to reduce the size.

stop the sepm service.

open the each numbered folder inside the inetupb folder and delete it

to configure the size

open sepm

admin

servers

right click properites, change the content size to 15..

The Conquistador's picture

I deleted this stuff, and the admin console was so slow that I chose to restart, now I cannot get back to my SEPM console.

The Conquistador's picture

I made the mistake of deleting the folders and not the content within, that is why I am now having an issue. Trying to get this resolved and repaired with Symantec on the line. Just need to find 12.1.2015.2015 media now. It is nowhere to be found at the moment.

Support can get you the link to download that version.

Or you can just go to RU3
